Brown Lumps Found on Cherry Tree
Cherry leaf spot is a fungal disease that causes small, purplish spots on the upper surface of leaves. Spots gradually turn brown before the leaves turn yellow and drop, defoliating the tree. In severe cases, the disease may appear on stems and fruits as well. Combat leaf spot by following proper sanitation techniques, such as removing and destroying diseased, dropped leaves in late winter and spring. Debris can harbor disease pathogens over winter. A fungicide containing propiconazole, myclobutanil or mancozeb and thiophanate methyl may be applied as new leaves emerge in the spring as a preventive measure. Follow label instructions exactly, spraying evenly for full coverage.
